Ruraich was born 03 June 2005. Possibly the cutest puppy ever he has grown into a very handsome dog. He had to join Dubh as a picking up dog after Pye's accidents a bit sooner than Eileen would have liked but he took to it like an old pro. He is a wonderful happy little dog with a huge desire to please and as a result despite being used regularly for picking up he seems to be able to adjust to working in the beating line. As a result Eileen relies on him heavily. Eileen has never got round to running him in any tests but he did manage to win a scurry at a Game Fair and qualify for the BASC Big Five.Ghillie, the latest addition to the pack, is an Irish Water Spaniel and although still a spaniel is very different to the cockers in all sorts of ways. Not only is he substantially larger, got a curly coat, and a whip tail, but also he is classified as a "retrieving" breed. One of the crosses that owners of Irish Water Spaniels soon learn to bear is constantly having the dogs mistaken as poodles and, increasingly, Labradoodles (Labrador \ Poodle crosses which seem to be in vogue at the moment). Even when it is explained that they are Irish Water Spaniels on occasionn one feels that one is not entirely believed!!
